Description

Iron Age is a classic empire-builder with modern mechanics set in the European Iron Age. The goal is to forge your empire’s legacy to ensure its place in history. Expand by war and diplomacy, recruit epic Heroes, build marvelous Wonders and make brilliant Discoveries to collect Victory Points and effects that strengthen your empire. Players adapt their abilities by managing their selection of Battle and Command Cards in their hand. Some are replayable each turn and some are handed to the targeted opponent after play. Clever planning and a silver tongue for diplomacy is required to reach your goal before the others. You can conquer the world as Rome, Greece, Persia, Egypt, Carthage or Gaul, each with their own set of 3 Heroes, a starting Discovery and a unique Legacy Bonus. There's a maximum of 7 turns per game and each turn has 3 phases - Income, Action and End. The actions are: Recruit, Build, Influence, Trade and Move. If a player reaches maximum expansion or claims enough achievements, the game will end early. By the end of the game, the player with the most Victory Points is declared the winner and earns the title "The Great". Iron Age is approachable grand strategy in a small box.
